Honda TSB 08-045 Chirp Noise – Sound and Video

8:56 pm DIY, How To Auto Repair, What's New?

Honda_Ridgeline

Honda Ridgeline is one of the vehicles affected by TSB 08-045

Honda has always been a little different when its comes to their TSB’s (Technical Service Bulletins). They have used terms that are down to earth, that mechanics can understand easily. Plenty of technical information but without all the technical talk. Honda has now gone above and beyond their previous efforts to inform technicians about issues and fixes. The PDF provided by Honda not only has pictures, it has video and sound!

Most Honda vehicles from 2005 to 2007 with six cylinder engines are included in the TSB. Noises in the timing belt area usually are usually heard at idle after the engine reaches normal operating temperature. The idler pulley could be rubbing causing the noise.

The fix consists of a tapered shim kit and possibly sanding down the engine bracket to allow for proper clearances.

Affected Vehicles – V6 Engines Making Noise

  • Honda Accord 2005, 2006 and 2007
  • Honda Odyssey 05, 06 & 07
  • Honda Pilot 05, 06 & 07
  • Honda Ridgeline 05, 06 & 07

The TSB has sound and video down on the right side of the first page. Mouse over the picture and click to hear the noise and watch the video. Excellent diagnostic help!
