©DenLorsTools.com Summary: Time Sert frequently asked questions. This article explains the difference in the Time-Sert Big Sert kits and the standard size kits. Big Sert kits have the initials BS on the end of the kit number. Like the J-42385-500BS and the J-42385-500; the two numbers are very close to being the same and are often confused with each other. Both are used for repairing threads for head bolts in the engine block of the Cadillac NorthStar.

TIME-SERT Kits

©DenLorsTools.com Summary: Information on Time Sert kits and a response included to a recent blog visitor. Time Sert kits are very high quality thread repair kits used primarily on engines. Many engines have aluminum components, like cylinder heads, blocks and oil pans. If the threads are damaged, they are either repaired or the costly component scrapped. Obviously, it’s much cheaper to repair the threads. Not just because of the price of the single component, also because of the savings in the additional labor required to replace certain engine components. Time Sert kits save our customer’s thousands of dollars in repair bills by allowing threads to be repaired, many times right in the vehicle. To me that makes Time-Sert kits, as good as gold. Infiniti G37

Looking towards the Sun squinting with our new 2013 Infiniti G37 Coupe.
Summary: Shopping for a used G37 Infiniti Coupe in the Tampa area. Our experience of shopping, pricing evaluating the cars, features and finally deciding on a deal. Regular readers of ours may know that one of my vehicle’s (which has been featured in several repair blogs) was a 2007 Chevrolet Impala SS. I love the power of the 5.3 V-8. Beyond that the car has left a lot to be desired. Dash noises that I find and fix would inevitably return a few weeks later. The feeling of being tossed about when cornering even when you are the one driving and holding onto the steering wheel, but especially when you are passenger-ing! My wife would always brace for every turn. Honestly, I’ve missed the quality of a well made Japanese vehicle like the Mitsubishi Diamante we had prior to the Chevy. We purchased the 1999 Diamante with 7,000 miles on it in the year 2000, at Carmax, where I worked at that time. The Diamante is no longer produced, besides we were not really looking for a four door car this time. Something about reaching middle age makes us want a sporty, luxury coupe. Not just any coupe, we started out on a search for a good low mileage used Infiniti G37. Read the rest…

TIME-SERT Kits

Shop for this Time Sert Kit now at DenLors Tools or read on for more information. Below is some of the set-up instructions for the Time Sert universal head bolt thread repair kit. The Time-Sert 2200 is used primarily on Toyotas although these tips can be used on other universal kits as well. Before you start a good practice is to always check the insert size to verify the correct size and thread pitch is being used. Remember that the head bolt will NOT thread completely into the insert until it has been installed all the way into the cylinder block with the installation driver. The use of the driver is what completes the threads at the bottom of the insert. When the threads are completed, the insert is locked in because the bottom is swedged outward, holding it in securely. A much better method than peening the top. Read the rest…

Lean Codes
No Comments
© DenLorsTools.com Summary: P0171 is a lean code which can indicate a vacuum leak especially if we are talking about a Ford. However, GM cars including Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Saturn and others are not prone to having vacuum leaks. Questions regarding a lean code and poor gas mileage on a Pontiac Sunfire ( which is similar to a Chevrolet Cavalier) prompted this repair article. In this repair article we give advice on what to look for and how to properly check MPG (Miles Per Gallon).

© DenLorsTools.com Summary: There are several things that can cause a bad odor inside the car. Spilled drinks can be an obvious source of a bad smell. Or, remnants of fast-food that has fallen to rest, in the infamous “black hole”. That’s the area between the console and the seat that dropped crumbs seem to be drawn to. With lack of cleanliness aside, there are less obvious causes of stale odors that come deep, from within the dash.
