Shop Fans, A Must for Hot Repair Shops and Busy Garages

10:41 am Auto Repair Shop

shop fanDenLorsTools.com Summary:
With almost 30 years experience as a master technician, I have worked in some extreme conditions inside un-airconditioned shops in the Florida heat. A shop fan or blower is a must if the shop isn’t air conditioned, usually several are needed.

Even with an air conditioned shop, which I did spend 14 years in, a blower is also needed to help disperse strong, unhealthy fumes. We offer a number of fans and blowers that’s perfect for shop environments. Check out our selection; here’s a great deal on one of our most popular:

If you’re not lucky enough to work in an air conditioned shop, or you want to disperse fumes from the car you’re working on, you’ll need some shop fans or small blowers. Sometimes shop fans can be mounted on the walls in order to preserve precious space on the shop floor. Other times it’s good to have a large fan that can be moved around depending upon where it’s needed the most. Shop fans like the one pictured allow it to be rolled over closer to the door, closer to a particular vehicle or all the way back in the corner of the shop that normally doesn’t get too much air movement or ventilation. One of my favorite blowers was a small three speed fan that had a heater attachment. I could use it some in the winter months for a little comfort in between working on cars. I used the blower to make changing  fuel pumps a little more bear-able. Gas fumes are one of the worst things you can breathe and it’s really hard to avoid the fumes when the fuel pump or sending unit being changed is mounted inside the gas tank. Dust from the process of removing gaskets with a die grinder and Scotch discs is also blown away with a small portable fan. The blower or fan can be positioned to blow the dust away from the guy doing the work. If that guy has ever been you, then you know what I mean.

Larger shop fans usually work out best near central working areas like the tire balancer, tire machine and parts washer.
