Time Sert 4412E Spark Plug Thread Repair Kit Question

12:43 pm TIME-SERT Kits

Copyright DenLorsTools.com Summary: Here’s a recent application question that came from one of our YouTube videos concerning a spark plug thread repair on a 1998 Dodge Stratus with a 2.4 DOHC. The question is regarding which Time Sert Kit can be used to repair the threads.

Question from Leo H.
Source: Youtube.com
Question – My sons car, 1998 Dodge Stratus 2.4 blew a spark plug and the threads stripped. The thread size in the head is 14×1.25. I’m guessing I need time sert kit #4412e because it is deep. Could you please let me know if that is the kit I will need. The thread depth on the spark plug is 3/4in. If I could get a cost for the kit, insert and oil for installation. Thank you..

Hello Leo,

Thanks for the inquiry. Yes, you’re on the right track as long as there has been no other repair inserts used previously like Helicoil. If it has had a previous repair then we would need to use a Big Sert Kit. The 4412E is the Extended kit for 14 x 1.25mm recessed plugs. The 4412 can be used when the spark plug hole is closer to the surface and longer tooling isn’t needed. The spark plug for the 1998 Stratus with the 2.4 has a washer seat and 3/4″ reach, so the insert that can be used is the 44111. The 4412E has this insert linked at the bottom of the page along with driver oil and Loctite. All pricing is on DenLorsTools.com. We’ve got these items in stock and can ship right away. Feel free to order online anytime or give a us a call during the week.
