Honda Crank Pulley Locking Tool – Size, Measuring info from DenLors
July 14, 2011 8:10 am Honda, Timing Belt©DenLorsTools.com Summary: Purchase the Honda crank pulley tool now or continue reading for more information. DenLors Tools provides info on Honda and Acura crank pulley hexagon slot opening measurement. Measuring the size is important to determine what size holding tool is required for securing the crank pulley to loosen the crankshaft pulley bolt. Conversion from millimeters to inches provided in the photos for 45mm and 50mm.We’ve had a recent question from a member of an Acura forum. DenLors has actually had variations of this question for years now. It applies to anyone questioning if our 50mm crank pulley tool is the right size for their vehicle and it doesn’t matter is it’s a Honda or Acura. See below.
Question – My question is concerning the following tool: 50 millimeter Honda Crank Pulley Tool from DenLors, I have a 93 manual transmission Acura Integra and of course it has a Honda engine. It has a stock crankshaft pulley, NOT an underdrive aftermarket one. I was wondering if this tool is right for my car or would I need the 45mm?
Answer – It’s important to know that aftermarket crank pulleys may NOT have any slot at all. That is true with some oe pulleys as well. I would say that 99.9% of all Honda and Acura vehicles will have the 50mm sized opening. To remove all doubt, there is only one way to find out for sure what size crank pulley opening a crank pulley has. Measure the hexagon slot that the pulley has. Measure across from “flat” to “flat” – 50 millimeters = about 2″ to be more precise “1.96 inches”. The smaller, less common size that is found on a few Acura’s with manual transmissions is 45mm, equal to about 1.75″ which converts to 1.77″.
We don’t have the 45mm tool since we have not had enough demand for it. We do have the 50mm specialty tool available, in fact we’ve sold hundreds of these tools! See the links below for more information on using the holding tool, instructions on Honda timing belt replacement and valve adjustment.

What is the inner diameter where the socket is to be inserted? I want to make sure the impact socket for a 3/4″ drive will fit. Thanks.

Nelson, the tool is designed to allow room for an impact socket to be used. It measures 1.5″. See our Honda CRank Pulley Tool product listing to see a video with the same size tool being used. We no longer sell the inferior Powerbuilt brand, because of quality issues. Our tool that we currently sell has a lefetime warranty. Good Luck.
