Fluid Evacuators Oil Extractor Pumps – Automotive and Boat Service
March 12, 2011 10:02 am Brake Bleeding, DIY, Oil Change© DenLorsTools.com Summary: Suggestions on the many uses of fluid evacuators, products also available for sale. Fluid evacuators are a huge time saver and such a convenient tool when it comes to pulling fluid out of a car. DenLors Tools has a variety of fluid evacuators/suction pumps for sale at great prices. The selection offered makes it easy to find the right one.
Ten years ago fluid evacuators weren’t as easy to find. I remember spending around $700 for a fluid evacuator from Pressol. Pressol, since then has stopped production of their fluid evacuators. I suspect Pressol realized that due to tough competition from other brands like John Dow and Mity Vac, their efforts would be better suited to fluid dispensing systems instead of fluid extractors. I absolutely loved my fluid evacuator, it saved me a lot of time. Doing quick oil changes on European cars is a breeze with an oil extractor. It sucks out 8 quarts from a BMW in about a minute. And with the oil filter accessible from the topside of the engine, there’s no need to raise the vehicle up on a lift. Another added benefit is NOT having to remove the splash shield from underneath the car. The splash shields are easy enough to remove, but the removal adds one more step to a simple oil change. So for the auto repair shop, it makes sense to have a fluid evacuator around. For the do-it yourselfer, a small oil extractor makes a Saturday oil change a breeze!
Other Uses for Fluid Evacuators
Fluid evacuators are NOT just for oil. Use them to remove transmission fluid, rear differential oil, coolant… the list goes on. Ever over-fill a transmission and need to remove a quart or so? These are great for this. Any fluid in the car can be serviced using a fluid evacuation pump. The MY7205 is a brake bleeding attachment that makes doing brake flushes or simply bleeding the brakes quick and easy. A roll around fluid extractor is usually the best choice for auto repair shops. Shops naturally doing more volume, find that the larger units are less work because they don’t need to be emptied as often. Home owners usually choose one of the smaller carry around units due to less space being needed for storage. With the smaller units, one can be selected to work independently, without an air compressor.
An air compressor is used in conjunction with most fluid extractors to create the vacuum and suction. But, the MY7201 works without the use of shop air from a compressor. The unit has a hand pump, which not only allows it to be used without a compressor, it allows it to be used away from the garage. It can be used on boats, out in the field of a junkyards and number of other locations where no air compressor is available. We even have a customer in Las Vegas, that uses the hand pump model to remove some of the water in fish tanks when maintaining a hotel’s aquariums. Fluid evacuators can also be used for flushing and bleeding power steering systems. They really have a million and one uses in the right hands!
